most likely, refers to name PAWLOWSKI. Two references to the name PAWLOWSKI could be found. 1. Vincent PAWLOWSKI was born on the 3th of June 1876 in Gross Lubin, Germany. He joined the French Foreign Legion in 1897 and as such could have
received the Médaille Militaire
in may 1914, after 16 or 17 years of service! In the First World War his No Matricule was
38253, Classe E.V. 1897 and Lm 418 of the
Recruitment depot of Nancy. He reached the rank of Sergent
and served in the Régiment de Marche de la Légion Étrangère. On the 20th of July 1918 he was reported missing in action near Chaudun (Aisne). 2. Antoine PAWLOWSKI was born on the 12th of June 1880 or 1888 in Sumitz, Germany. He joined the French Foreign Legion in 1914 in Arras and received the
local registration number Lm 55 and the No Matricule
22727. He was killed in action early in the First World War on the 12th of
December 1914 near Frise at the Somme serving as 2e
classe in the 3e de Marche du 1er Etranger. |
