“of Dutch Nationality”. |
daar eerder thuis hoort.[3] |

No 2 (Dutch) Troop
commandotraining in Achnacarry staat, nu korporaal

10 Commando To the Dutch Ministery of War Arlington
House, London. Dear Sir, As I
am about to leave this
country for service overseas
in the very near future, I beg to draw your attention to the fact that
so far I have had no satisfactory
reply to my request to regain
my Dutch nationality, which I lost by serving in the French Foreign Legion, with whom I fought in Narvik, gaining there the Croix de Guerre with Palm. After the collapse
of France, I came to this country and served with the British Army for two
and a half years, of which for the last nine months I was attached to the Dutch Troop of No.10
Commando. I have
made several requests regarding the reinstatement of my Dutch nationality. The last request being made personally by my C.O. Lieut. Linzel, who returned
with a vague promise of the
matter taking some considerable time. As I am very far from being satisfied with this answer,
I beg to point out that for my
own personal security, I would
greatly desire to have a definite answer to my
request before I am willing to
serve my country overseas. If the matter is going to take some considerable time as Lieut. Linzel informed me, I wonder, if for the period of waiting You could
employ in some other sphere my knowledge of languages (French, German, English
and Dutch) and my knowledge of the organisation etc. of the three armies in which I have served ,gaining a good report from each. My chief
aim is to serve my country to the very best of my ability, but, Sir, I would respectfully point out that I must
also guard my own interests,
and that unless You can
see Your way to grant my
request for the return of
my nationality, I am unwilling to leave this
country with only a vague
promise, for in which case I fear the matter may be entirely
overlooked. I hope
you see my point and trust the matter will have Your attention. I remain, Yours respectfully, Eastbourne, 27 November 1943. Stempel

12-12-1943 No 2

Men had uitgevogeld dat
volwassen was! |

Bob
Daarna
tot 1981 Hoofd Bescherming Bevolking Gelderland. Bob
Michels overlijdt in 1988 op 71-jarige leeftijd |
